The BIDA Mission Statement
The British Interior Design Association exists to promote and support the interior design and decoration professions. The BIDA is committed to the advancement of the professional practice of interior design and to the creation of a comprehensive vision for the design challenges of the future.
The BIDA aspires to:
- Foster high standards of design and increase public awareness of the importance of good design in all aspects of daily life
- Emphasise the environmental and aesthetic implications of design
- Encourage excellence in design through education, training and continuing professional development of individual practitioners
- Support the mentoring of students and new designers in order to create a solid foundation for the future strength of the profession
- Encourage the commitment of members to make interior design more accessible to the public at large by participating in voluntary community programmes
- Stimulate open debate with other professional institutions and bodies involved in the interior design industry, nationally and internationally
- Achieve the registration of all practising interior designers
The RIBA/BIDA Form of Appointment for Interior Design Services (ID/05):
The RIBA/BIDA Form of Appointment for Interior design Services (ID/05) is the latest addition to the RIBA suite of Forms of Appointment.
The Form has been developed jointly by the Royal Institute of British Architects and the British Interior Design Association. The Form, which is based on the RIBA form, Conditions of Engagement for the Appointment of an Architect (CE/99), has been specifically written to meet the needs and requirements of professionals undertaking interior design projects and covers a comprehensive range of services.
